Hi, I'm Michael B. Vokabre, student, traveler, artist and computer and roboticist from Moscow, Russia.
My motto: Love. Freedom. The power of joy.
My philosophy: I'm going alone
I was studying scene-design and arts in the College of musical and theatre arts #61 from 2001 to 2008, in 2004 I made my first portrait. It sucked, but I liked it. 20 sketches in a week was obligatory, I hated to drew them so I always was one of the worst artists in group. But everything changed few years ago when I started to draw not for my teachers, but for me. I left the College in 2008 and started to draw more and more. Pencils, charcoal, pens, marker pens. In June 2010 I made a record - 65 sketches at one night. My secret is simple. I love everybody and everything I'm drawing.
I'm drawing my ex-classmates from the College, my best friends - Katya (Kate, "Onee-chan", "older sister"), Rita ("Ane-chan", "younger sister"), Sasha ("Nemi") and Vlad.
I'm drawing my new friends, classmates from the school #1480 where I'm currently studying and classmates from MosGU (Moscow university for the humanities) where I'm learning Japanese and was learning English and German.
I'm drawing my Internet and twitter friends I know more or less or just strangers from the web who asked me to do the sketch of them.
And I'm drawing a lot of people just passing by while I was filling my notepad with drawings somewhere in Moscow or in travel or there could be not even people and not even places in the real world, there could be scans of my small notepads with everything I had in mind.

There are a lot of stupid rules in my new school, the worst of them is the forbiddance of using cameras. I always take my camera with me and make photos of friends to draw sketches using photos as sources, but here is the only thing I could use as camera is the my iphone, so it’s harder to make clean photos that could be turned into nice sketches. The first month I was trying to break the rule and I’ve made a lot of nice photos which were turned into this drawings, on the one of them you are looking now.

She is the new student in the College, she came when i left, but I’ve met her a few times and I think she is a nice girl. This is the first her appearance on my sketches.
(Civik is a nickname made from her family name (Civinskaya), because there are two Katyas in the group and there should be any difference between them)

Second version of the sketch. While drawing New Year sketches I remembered my sketch of Vlad I’ve drawn at my study in the college. I thought that I couldn’t draw anything better and i was right, so I’ve just edited the sketch a little and transformed it into a nice gift.
